The Westhill Service Station (Straik Road at Elrick) put some 215/40/18 on my old Merc 9" rims.

The guys at Costco might too I think?

Don’t do it if you drive the car hard!
I have 9” x 16” rears on my MK2 Golf and had 215's fitted. The rear passenger one came off the rim while driving pretty fast round a sharpish corner. I was very lucky to keep it on the road.
If it’s about the look then go for it... but if you corner fast and drive hard just be careful...
I won’t be using stretched tyres again...!

You'd best learn to check you tyre pressure more often. . . . ;)

what pressure did you have them at as they need to be a higher pressure

even mk2's with 15" wheels have a higher pressure on the stiker on the filler flap
i think the 14" wheels was 29 to 32 front 29 to 36 rear
and 15" wheels 32 to 36 front and 32 to 39 rear

16" Stretched tyre would need a lot more
i had 39 to 42 with mine

but you have to watch you dont go to hard for the wet

Not strictly related to Stretched tyres but the number of people stuck in the the 30-32psi tyre pressure mind set is unbelievable.

The Scirocco forums are full of idiots who refuse to believe that a 235/40/18 or 235/35/19 Tyre actually requires the 38+ PSI as indicated by VW on the fuel flap!!! Reckoning that its too high. . . . :uhoh:

I had always set my rear tyres at 32psi... (215 40 16 on 9in rims)
my fronts at 30psi...(215 40 16 on 7in rims)
Now these are on a Mk2 Golf which is not the heaviest of beasts, so some advice please? :adore:
What should my tyre pressure be set at? :?
