VW Anti-Corrosion Warranty on Mk4 '52

Any of you guys had any luck claiming corrosion on front wings?

My Mk4 Flaked off a bit of paint last weekend when i was washing it, bit of rust there, i'm presuming a quick visit to the dealer is in order when i get home.

Bit hesitant about taking it to Specialist Cars

But if it'll get done for nowt then needs must!

Quick search last night revealed it is a fairly common problem and VW USA has a bulletin out about this.

As long as you have a FVWSH and wings with original paint then you should have no problem claiming this Under warranty

i tryed claiming on a polo a thew year back they check the the roof paint against the panel you are trying to claim of to see if i is original paint
and ps you dont want john clark's bodyshop to fix it any way trust me they are shit

12 Years as far as i know,

no go the tailgate had been resprayed in the past so not covered by the warranty
i did joke that it was that bad a spray job it must have been done at john clark's
i dont think that went down to well

i had to book it in to get it inspected by the bodyshop guy

How do they tell if it's had paint if the job has been done well, is it easy for them to spot

they check the thickness of the paint on the roof then check the panel with the defect to see if it is the same thickness of paint

the roof is less likely to have been resprayed

What if you've had the paint machine polished? Or does that not really affect it?

The warranty is also only valid if it corrodes from the inside out, ie.. a hole..

Well mk4 front wings corrode from the inside out so I can't see it being a problem as it's a common fault with them

the tail gate is the same on all vw of this age it rots from the in side out round the handle
not helped by it being aluminum
and the two drain holes in the corners of the tail gate are covered over so any water getting in or leaking
from the wippers go in to the boot or shorts the switch in the tail gate setting the alarm off
