From what i can see the TB only offsets the fuel inlet temp and allows the car to inject more diesel hence more BHP, the down side is the amount of soot you get as the fuel metering is not that well controlled this way.
Yes that's what the cheap tuning boxes on ebay do (ie, £5 ones). These ones are proper piggy-back ECUs in their own right aren't they?
