The springs are 35mm, i think this will be a suitable height for me.

I will be getting a tunning box for the car with increases power about 25bhp and economy 20% and that will be about it.

I fitted a k&n panel filter that i got from eddie so i think that has helped a bit.

Please do not buy the tuning box  , get it safely mapped instead.

How much you looking at for a tunning box ?

As a remap is only going to cost circa £300

A remap is a bit more scientific than a tuning box resistor cheat....

an IC engine is more scientific than a steam engine. Doesn't mean the steam engine doesn't work though  ;)

I would, and have you lot shoveling the coal

At least with the tuning box its a 30 seconds to remove it if you want to change cars.

Golf looks good for the age.

Its approx £85 for a tuning box so a lot cheaper that a re-map.

Nice 5 minute job to plug in or less to unplug. also not willing to spend £300 on a re-map for a car i use for work and that the £85 will give me the results i am looking for(20% less fuel consumption).

£85 for a resister in a box is not really good value for money, you could probably do it yourself for £5, If you want to be really fancy us a variable resister pot to cary the amount of soot to pump ot..
From what i can see the TB only offsets the fuel inlet temp and allows the car to inject more diesel hence more BHP, the down side is the amount of soot you get as the fuel metering is not that well controlled this way.
