Simply being asked to remove them and have the reasoning simply explained to him, like you've said, telling the driver the tints really need to come off for those very reasons is all that is required.

As Brad says, he had been told the week before to remove them, the SAME cops caught him with the tints still in place. Maybe (and I think Brad may agree here) they had warned him once to remove them, he didn't do it (for whatever reason), that arse ripping was needed to get it through that they had given him a chance, which was not taken so they wanted to make sure he understood the severity of the situation.nor wrote:Once again it highlights the mentality of these cops who cant resist laying into a driver needlessly. Wise up. Brad was told (I'm guessing reasonably) once already to remove them and given a week to do so. AFTER their fair warning had not been adhered, they then proceeded to step up to the next level. In reality, they could easily have not given that arse ripping and just proceeded to charge him.

The driver looked at me and the car breifly, and his double take must have dislocated both his shoulders! Never seen such a huge double take and jaw drop in all my days. He blatently knew the car or me or both, so these guys are definately well informed to the goings on of the forum!

Or because you have Dogs you'd like to keep cooler in the back. I saw a Police Dogs car and it had mirror tints on the side and Limo tint on the back. I however don't Drive a vinyl'd up police car and wouldnt pull off the mirror tints quite the sameand i dont like the half and half look.
Whilst i mind, Martin had the lightest tint on his red anni couple of years ago, it didn't look 'tinted' but it fairly enhanced the red and just made it overall look cleaner. you'll be surprised at how nice a subtle tint can look.

The laws were re written around 2004 before that it was all very vague.
As stated above, Windscreen is a no no . Front sides have to let through 70% , and B' Pillar Back is still 100% legal .
Even working in the trade there is still no written punishment for offenders, it seems to be up to the individual officers who stop you . Although the darker it is the harsher the punishment.
Dark tints on front windows IS dangerous no matter what anyone says , vision at night and in bad weather is diffently impaired. It was the death of a biker that caused the law to be brought in.
This will also probably mean that sometimes a chap from VOSA will be in the back of the traffic cars and you diffently dont want them on your back !!
So on a Modern car, is the standard tint already really close to the limit or is it the limit etc?

3 Volvos and a BMW 5series all waiting round corners behind buildings
sdtints wrote:Modern Standard cars are normally between 70% and 80% VLT(visible light transmission) , making it near on impossible to keep it legal.
